Rose is a ceramic artist based in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Rose currently serves as the Assistant Manager at Stephenson Ceramic Studio where she represents the collection of John and Susanne Stephenson. Rose obtained a BA in Economics and Studio Art at Kalamazoo College in 2022. Rose's work utilizes plaster molds and found objects to create ceramic forms that explore memory, object association, and surface texture while challenging shape conformity. Through this process, she transforms mass-produced, familiar objects into individualized forms, discussing the inherent meanings objects hold. Rose's work is a palimpsest and is intended to be viewed as such. By examining how we relate to objects and how objects relate to one another, Rose seeks to create new forms and surfaces that provoke dialogue and reinterpretation.
A central theme in Rose's work is the innate power that objects hold, their ability to express emotion, and the excitement that comes from presenting them out of context. Rose's work is a dance between clay and not-clay, between recognizable objects and shapes conjured from the mind. Perhaps this dance is where she finds the most excitement.
